Japan Sea Drive , November 2011.
(Canon Pwrshot + iFon3s) x Preset X5
When you encounter an unexpectedly good java. Toll way rest area, Agano River, Niigata.
Nightfall at Oya Shirazu, Niigata. The ocean on the right, steep cliff on the left.
Ikuji Beach, Toyama.
Bay of Toyama makes an acute dip down to 1200m not too far off the coast line. Place with many wonders.
Noto Peninsula coast line, rows and rows of black roof tiles.
A tiny tiny tiny port, Shika, Noto Peninsula.
Charcoal sponge, Nanao. Tasted any different to me but the colour does match the roof tiles of Noto.
"Cat" A calligraphy masterpiece by a 6yr old, Nanao.
Shika, Noto P. No to nuclear power, spray painted on costly-to-maintain dark wood siding.
Anamizu, is a Bay inside the Bay, where a bunch of oysters grow.
Near the tip of the Peninsula.
One more from the tip. One surfer in water.
Wakasa Bay, Fukui Pref.
This is how dried persimmons are made. I heard you have to massage them at one point during the process . Somewhere along the Wakasa Bay, Fukui Pref.
Five Lakes of Mikata, "Rainbow Line" toll path.
One of them lakes.
A structure far back in zen hq, Fukui. Monks were barefoot as I heard they ought to be. Legend says Steve Jobs once had an aspiration to go sockless here but chose another path.
I know no zen, 'm anywhere near enlightened but do own few apples. A zen tee for sale just outside the temple.
Wakasa Bay vibe, my interpretation.
Central Niigata, hilltop farming space. The entire region I visited is called Hokuriku, the north lands, will be buried under snow during the winter (I saw it on news). Gets pretty windy too, hence tires I suppose.
Ara Hama, rough beach in literal. Kashiwazaki, Niigata. Alone in water is never my idea of a rough life. One of the last shots before hopping on a toll way back to Pacific.
